Sarah Elise Davis first pursued her interest in songwriting at the age of 12 in Little Rock, Arkansas as a 7th grade student at The Cathedral School. Greatly influenced by her middle school music teacher (Scott Sides), Elise began to write and sing in small groups of other students, along with a few that formed a high school band known as the "Hush", and later as the "Sandbox Lizards".
The Sandbox Lizards, as high school seniors, performed at many of the most notable local Little Rock venues, including Juanita's Cantina and Sticky Fingerz in the River Market. In Feb. 2006 the band entered into the annual Arkansas Showcase and was selected as a semi-Finalist in the competition for the best new bands in Arkansas, sponsored by the Arkansas Times and Sticky Fingerz.
"Elise Davis was the star attraction .... (her) acoustic guitar songs especially made an impression on the judges". ARKANSAS TIMES 2/16/06
In May 2006, the band was selected from over 200 band entries to perform at the annual Riverfest weekend festival. That night marked the end of the band's last performance together as the Sandbox Lizards (Jamie May, Houston Matthews, William Henry, Justin Warren, and Elise Davis as the original band).
In July 2006, Elise joined with a group of local musicians (Scott Sides, Mike Mosley, and Mike Hollis) to produce her debut EP "Love and Leaving", and in August 2007 she recorded her second CD, "Just Like Sugar", seven songs recorded at Blue Chair Studios.
In 2008, Elise recorded a new LP "Another Lonesome Romance" with Brandon Alanis, Jordan Trotter and Darian Stribling.
"Judged only by her rich voice and breezy, open-road arrangements ...... Davis sounds mature well beyond her years. And judged even by her resume — two albums already under her belt and a third, “Another Lonesome Romance,” — she's farther down the road to Sheryl Crow-dom than virtually all her 19-year-old peers."
